Jordon Mutch to Cardiff City from BCFC for an undisclosed fee (believed to be 900k). I simply cannot get my breath at this, he is a really good player, a youth prospect and easily worth double that at the very least. Those bastards in charge of us need lynching. I am fuming

As a Liverpool supporter, I couldn't wait for last season to end but I'm already looking forward to the next one and a fresh start under Rodgers. We're one of a number of teams who have gone with promising young managers (Villa, Norwich, Swansea, Spurs?) so it'll be very interesting to see how things pan out!

That's better than the earlier rumour of him going to BarnET!

Poor Becks.

I renewed my LFC season ticket last night. Roll on the Brendan Rodgers Mystery Tour!

Do you reckon Rodgers will last longer at Liverpool than the six months he was at Reading before they fired him? *

* or 'left by mutual consent' if we're to believe that. Record: 23 games as manager, won 6, drawn 6, lost 11.

As long as he does a better job than Roy Hodgson did!

By coincidence Hodgson only lasted six months at LFC!

Strange though that six England players will come back to Melwood being trained in a style that will be the polar opposite of what Hodgson had them playing.

Rodgers - "Keep the ball!"
Half a dozen voices simultaneously - "Sorry, we don't understand. KEEP the ball?"

Was gonna say i dont think Rodgers is this amazing manager. Yeah he did well at Swansea but at Reading he was dire, look how Reading did once he left under McDermott. Think Rodgers is a decent championship style manager but i cant believe he'll lead Liverpool to Euro glory anytime soon. Think Liverpool took a huge risk.

I don't know the 'answer' to this question, hence my reason for asking,

I've heard it said that at Swansea City he merely continued the work that the previous manager or two had started, i.e. previous managers had laid the foundations for Swansea City's style of playing philosophy and Rodgers just kept the wheels turning. Is that a fair summary or does it not do Rodgers justice?

Must admit i dont know enough about Swansea so unsure if he took a decent side already and obviously did well with them. Readings first year in the premiership they finished high up but then second season got relegated. A few championship teams do well the first year in the premiership and then go down.

Be interesting to see how Rodgers does with Liverpool, in most sports you do need a few seasons to really allow the manager to get things how he wants them but i think with the premiership and with Liverpool its a case of win now.

The two Swansea managers preceding Rodgers (Roberto Martinez and Paulo Sousa) got them to the fringes of the Championship play-offs for two or three consecutive seasons before they went up, so there must already have been an established group of decent players. Similar pattern to their Prem form too, solid defensively but not exactly prolific in attack.
Now I think of it, sounds like Liverpool season just gone too!
