Yes, the 1993 European Grand Prix at Donington Park was officially sponsored by SEGA. The race was branded the SEGA European Grand Prix.

Williams were sponsored by SEGA that season and their cars featured prominent SEGA logos as part of the livery.
See Damon Hill's 'legs' and 'shoes'!

... and Sonic's image adorning both Prost and Hill's racing helmets plus the red footwear and white gloves like Sonic with the albeit standard issue but handily blue Williams racing overalls!

An officially licensed t-shirt of the time,

The coolest thing though?
SEGA reputedly approached McLaren as a sponsor for the 1993 season. McLaren declined the approach as they supposedly thought adorning their car with Sonic The Hedgehog's image wouldn't be appropriate - too childish for the traditionally serious/po-faced McLaren image, presumably. As stated above, Williams subsequently accepted SEGA as a sponsor for 1993.
However, each time Senna/McLaren won a race that season, to take the rise out of Williams, for the following race * they adorned the winning driver's (Senna) McLaren MP4/8 car with an image of a hedgehog that was roadkill with a big red tyre mark splattering it!
See behind the wing mirror here on Senna's car for what I'm referring to,

* some sources state said splattered hedgehog image on Senna's McLaren was unique to the SEGA European Grand Prix in 1993 at Donington Park.
