Acorn Archimedes startup keys?

Postby blakespot on Wed May 23, 2007 10:44 am

I have an Acorn A5000 and it came, from the seller, w/ a sheet that showed different keys to be held @ startup that controlled what video mode the unit would boot into. I have a VGA card installed w/ pass-thru cable looping from std video out, thru the card, to the screen.

Can someone refresh my memory as to the key combos? I've lost the sheet.

Thanks.

Lucky you, you have a CC Colourcard. I would LOVE one of those for my A5000! :)

Delete - resets all CMOS except econet ID
Copy - resets all CMOS except econet ID, reverse sync
R - resets all CMOS except econet, country code, number of floppy
and hard discs, and expansion card info.
keypad 0 - select TV style display
keypad 1 - select multiscan display
keypad 2 - select hires-mono display
keypad 3 - select VGA display
keypad 4 - select SVGA display
keypad 5 - select LCD display
keypad . - select automatic display detection
Numpad + or - for sync 1 or 0

These are the codes without a Colourcard fitted, and I don't know if that affects things. The Colourcard manual can be downloaded here:

Thanks! I can't seem to play Zarch on it tho, with the ccard. The seller suggested it's because I'd need a real 15kHz screen for it. True?

Tnx.

Most likely! I can't get any games to work on my A3010 when I have a VGA monitor connected - but it's fine on my TV :)

With the proper cable, will the A5000 work with a Commodore 1084 screen, a 15kHz unit. Every 1084 I've tried scans down to 50Hz fine (I'm stateside).

Thanks. Know where such a cable can be sourced, or must I build one? Pinouts?

Thanks for the links and info.

I'll trade you my CC Colourcard for a cable that will hook the standard RGB output from the A5000 to a Commodore 1084 screen. Seriously.
