WWF Wrestlefest

Game Profile:

Considered by many to the best arcade wrestling game ever made, WWF Wrestlefest features in many gamers top 10 arcade titles.

Featuring twelve playable characters, including legends of the era Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and Jake "The Snake" Roberts, the game offered 4 player simultanious action in either the Royal Rumble mode or "Saturday Nights Main Event" Tag Team.

The Royal Rumble mode saw every man for himself in an elimination match.  Players were eliminated either by pinfall, submission or being thrown over the top rope.  With 6 players in the ring at once, completing this mode requires strategy, picking off the more battered and vunerable wrestlers and avoiding those who were fresher and had just eneterd the match.

"Saturday Nights Main Event" Tag Team saw the player picking two superstars and climbing the ranks, defeating other teams in a bid to earn a title match against champions The Legion Of Doom and then defending their newly won title against all challengers.

Featuring simple controls, real signature moves and large, colourful graphics this game remains as popular now as it was when first released.  A classic.

Fantastic game, me and my mate used to spend hours (and pounds) on it in Shipley's arcade in the early 90's!

I still love this game and I always found it amusing that they made Jake Roberts just as muscular as The Ultimate Warrior...

Tonight, for the first time, I completed the Royal Rumble with 1 credit using normal difficulty settings. Not a great feat to many of you - but it's been 18 years in the making for me. I used the Ultimate Warrior to perform this task. Thank you and goodnight.

Great game, while most of my mates were drooling over SF2 i was always firmly stuck to this machine. I hoped and prayed that one day this would be ported to Megadrive (being 11 i didn't know about licencing issues).

This was an utterly-superb game, and the Royal Rumble was sublime. I loved it so much that I converted my parent's shed to house the cab for this (and some fruit machines - I had my own little arcade!) I loved the special-moves, the simplicity of the controls and the fact it offered two styles to get to grips with. Top, top game, and it's what I hoped Lengeds of Wrestling would be like on the Xbox (i.e. more-arcadey).
