Game Profile:
After the shaky start of the first Mortal Kombat outing, there was much hope for its sequel which was another success on home console ports.
Mortal Kombat 2 pushed the foundries of gore further by adding two fatalities for the characters and for those who liked to give mercy, a “friendship” move could be pulled off.
Mortal Kombat 2 saw the return of some of the characters from the first outing, but also some new fighters to join the cast, such as Jax, Baraka, Kitana, Kung Lao, and Milenna.
The humble A500/A600 would receive this port with all the gore included, and what a conversion it was, the graphics were nicely toned, the sound effects bit on the mega drive side, but never the less, This port of Mortal Kombat was miles better than its processor. Spanning on 3 floppys, granted that this Mortal Kombat needed only 1mb of memory to run, however in reality it needed 1.5mb as this cut down on a lot of disk swapping for those who had 2mb.
The moves in Mortal Kombat 2 were the same as the first outing for the amiga, a lot of waggling of joystick to pull off the moves, and after you pulled off the fatality move, you were hit with a screen to insert disk 3, much to the amusement and sniggering of console owning friends.
Mortal Kombat 2 on the amiga was an excellent port despite its shortcomings.
