Game Profile:

Race is an early Vic-20 game released by Commodore and later included on a single cassette that came with the Vic-20 Computer with Hoppit, Blitz and Type a Tune.

The game is simple, you control a bike in the upper part of the screen.  Below you is a straight track and a load of cars hurtling towards you at an ever increasing rate.  Your job is simply to dodge the cars and get as far as you can.

The distance travelled is indicated by a number on each line to the left of the track.  Perhaps the programmer thought this would be too difficult, so the course is ends at 300.  With four difficulty settings determining the starting speed (with the fourth too fast to be playable) there is very limited gameplay.

The best thing about this game for me is not the gameplay, the graphics or music / sound (which this game has very little of any) but more the memories of one of the first games I played on the Vic-20.  I'd guess that most Vic-20 owners would too.
