Ghosts 'n Goblins

Game Profile:

I love platform games and I love challenging games, two things I feel have now diminished in the gaming world with current games. But that doesn't mean I still can't reminisce what gaming used to be like and one game which reminds me of this all too well is Capcom's brutal platformer Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Playing as Arthur the Knight it is your job to go and save the Princess Prin Prin from the Ghosts 'n Goblins which have held her captive. Playing through six brutally difficult levels and only being allowed two hits before you die it is a truly difficult quest only completed by the bravest of knights and gamers. Through the levels check-points are accessable and better items and weapons are too but it still doesn't mean the game gets any easier to play through. Added to this, the game has unlimited continues like Castlevania, teasing you to play even more and to complete it before you have a break-down.

Ported from the arcades to nearly every console at the time, the NES version is one of the best home conversions of this cult classic and has great graphics, music and controls. This version of the game regularly appears in best games lists so it is a solid conversion of this infamous arcade platformer. This version of the game is available for download on the virtual console for 500 Wii points so if you want to try and complete this gaming challenge it is there ready and waiting.

Ghosts 'n Goblins on the NES is a throwback to how gaming used to be and one of the best games for the system. With its unrelentless difficulty, brilliant music, graphics and gameplay it is one game every retro gamer should try and complete.

World Of Ste says:

Never understood how they managed to screw up the colours with the zombies in this version (the hair is blue and the clothes red as opposed to the other way around!). Still, nice port overall.

Whats with the flames? They look like giant strawberrys. Been after this for a while now.

One of the few formats of one of my favourite games that I haven't played. Will check it out on the VC. Nice comment about the zombies by World Of Ste...

"I hate all videogame players and I want them to suffer every moment until they die"- Tokuro Fujiwara Director of Ghosts 'N Goblins. That line in example explains this game along with beautiful graphics, interesting enemies and a ridiculous story line. Ghosts 'N Goblins is THE hardcore gamers bone-appetite of fucking death. Till this day I can't beat this spiteful son of a bitch and I love it more and more till this day. Retro Gamer just put out Issue#74 with a full history of this gem, go check it out now and go buy this game immediately and learn the true art of controller smashing anger.

Today there are tons of ways to play poker online games on a computer or on a gaming console, but it hasn’t always been like that.
