If you’re a fan of Carmageddon, we’re going to assume two things. Firstly, you’ve obviously never worked for the BBFC because those guys just hated it. Secondly, you might well be interested in Carmageddon: Reincarnation, which goes live on Steam Early Access on 27 March 2014. It’s the latest in a line of retro revivals to have been funded via Kickstarter, with Stainless Games managing to raise over $625,000 in July 2012. The team has been providing updates via YouTube since then, with the most recent focusing on the game’s damage model (as opposed to cows, which seems to be the team’s favourite thing to feature).
For those of you that missed it back in 1997, Carmageddon is an incredibly violent racing game featuring gratuitous violence against pedestrians. The game was successful after it narrowly escaped a ban in the UK, and was followed up by Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now in 1998. Stainless Games has experienced success in recent years with the Magic The Gathering: Duels Of The Planeswalkers series for Wizards of the Coast.
