VpacApp hits Android
If you’re fond of the Philips Videopac G7000, known in the US as the Magnavox Odyssey 2, then you might be interested in the new VpacApp by Göran Öhman. The system launched in 1978 and became particularly popular in Europe, before being discontinued in the wake of the 1983 console market crash.
The VpacApp emulator contains over 40 pre-installed games, apparently included with the permission of Philips, alongside original box art and instruction manuals. The app is free to download and totally ad-free, too. You’ll need a modern Android device to play – users on old versions such as Gingerbread are out of luck – but if you’re hankering for some KC Munchkin on the go, this is the best way to do it. If you’re interested, pick it up on Google Play.
