Welcome fellow Retrobates to our exciting new website

We’ve been working furiously behind the scenes with our excellent digital department to create a brand new website that will give you a level of interaction that’s never been seen before.

We know that you love retro games as much as we do, so we felt this was the perfect opportunity to help make our excellent new website YOUR excellent new website.

But before we get to that, let’s take a look at the brand new features that Retro Gamer 2.0 offers.

Games profiles
Our ‘Games’ section is just that, dedicated to everything you love about classic videogames. You can add your own profiles here, but also read the hundreds upon thousands of profiles that are already available. We’ve even split everything into separate decades, so if you’re a child of the Eighties you can get nostalgia overload with a simple button click.

We’re also aware that many of you are fans of specific systems, so you can search by ‘Format’ as well. Don’t see your favourite games available? Then simply add them yourself with our easy-to-use ‘Add Profile’ option. And who knows, you may win a prize or have your featured game appear in the magazine.

You’ll also have access to our popular ‘Forum’. There’s always plenty of interesting chat on there and it allows you to interact directly with myself and other members of the team.

Top 10s
Another new section is ‘Top 10’. Everyone loves a good list and we’re no exception. While you’ll find our own personal choices, you’ll also be able to add your own. Oh and don’t worry about them being retro specific either. If you want to share your Top 10 movies or books with other members of the community then this is the place to do it.

Retro Gamer picks/favourites
‘RG Picks’ is just that, a section for all your favourite things. ‘Future Classic’ covers more modern games that everyone should play, while ‘Why I Love’ is your opportunity to gush about anything you love. It could be a classic game, or even a piece of hardware or a long forgotten magazine. Basically if it is something YOU personally care about, we’d be honoured for you to share it with us.

Profiles
‘Profiles’ are where you’ll find the main meat of our features. Here you will find abridged versions of some of our greatest content; from classic developers like Peter Molyneux, to company profiles on Accolade, or hardware retrospectives. This is also where you can upload your own personal ‘Retrobate’ profiles so that everyone in the retro community knows your likes and dislikes.

Themes
Another new addition to the site are ‘Themes’. These will allow you to relive the classic computer wars of old, as you can currently select from three different types: ZX Spectrum, PC-Dos and Commodore 64, which are found below the Home button. You can see what they look like below, but we’d love to hear more ideas about future themes we could use.

Blog
Lastly, we have the Retro Gamer ‘Blog’ which will feature all the latest news and information from the team and the retro community in general. If something is happening in the community, then this is where you’ll find it.

We’ve worked extremely hard on this project, with the aim of creating an organic retro community that everyone will enjoy. There are skins based on your favourite classic systems, it’s compatible with all mobile devices and it already has an extensive database of fascinating game profiles to devour.

We’re not done by a long shot though, as our unique website will continue to evolve and grow as everyone adds entertaining new articles to it. We’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions going forward so that we can create a retro website that the entire community can be proud of.
