Here is another good Amsoft game and one that I have spent many hours playing. It is similar to Elite, but without the good graphics and the trading aspect – the sole aim of this game is to wipe out all of the baddies that have attacked Earth.
It is quite a strategic game, with different screens for maps and scans, and your spaceship is very advanced, with shields and weapons and a warp drive. There is so much to do that this is one of the few Amsoft games that comes with a seperate manual inside the cassette case.
If you like a good shoot'em up with a strategic element, then Codename Mat is one to go for. It was so good that there was even a sequel, Codename Mat II, though this wasn't produced by Amsoft.
