What a brilliant game this is. This was the first game in the Trilogy and this one is my favourite of the three. Beast III is my second best. Beast II was good also but it was just far too difficult to play. I have heard from people saying that Beast II is impossible to complete while not using cheats and I do believe that. Maybe there are people out there that have managed to complete it but I have not even come close.

Shadow Of The Beast in my opinion is perfect in every way. The graphics are absolutely stunning to look at. Everything from the detail of every tree to the moving objects in the background are perfect.

This game was available on many types of consoles and computers including the Atari ST and the Master System. I have only played it on the Amiga 500 and I still have this game today. Some versions were released with a free T-Shirt which was great but unfortunetely I no longer have it.

The game was released back in 1989 and it was a whole new dimension in computer games with 50 frames per second, 350 screens, 900K of emotive music and a total of 132 different types of monsters. The Beast trilogy games were Screen Scrolling Platformers with some puzzles thrown in.

The only weapon the player has at first and for most of the game is just a Punch and a Flying Kick but you do collect different weapons along the way including Power Punch, Fireballs and on the Tunnel Level even a Gun and a Jet Pack. I have not got past the Tunnel Level before. I have seen people complete the game with the help from using cheats but this is one thing I don't do as cheats just takes the fun out of the game. I still play this game every now and then and maybe one day I will finish it. If I did finish it, I would still go back to playing it as it is one of those games that I will never get bored with.

If your one of those players that likes end of level guardians then this game does not dissapoint. Enemies come in all shapes and sizes and most of them are defeated with just the one hit but you need to be quick as there are alot of them.

In my opinion, I can not fault this game in any way. If you have never played this game before then you really have missed something special and I really recommend you giving it a try. Any game by Psygnosis is worth a look as the graphics are always fantastic. The game is quite a difficult one and it is a challenge but I like games like that.
