Wasn’t eighties television great? You had the A-Team, Knight Rider, The Dukes of Hazard, Airwolf, Blue Thunder and The Fall Guy…. Well alright The Fall Guy was rubbish (except for the girl he hung around with – I liked her) but it passed the time on a Saturday teatime whilst waiting for something better to be broadcast.

It was all about the six million dollar man, who was now a fat stuntman. Stuntmen apparently spend most of their time solving crimes in their Bigfoot type jeep with attractive short-shorts wearing girls and a nerdy assistant. Who knew? I thought they just jumped off buildings onto cardboard boxes.

Apparently that’s what Elite thought too, because when they made a game of The Fall Guy it only involved jumping off things onto other things. That was pretty much was all there was to do.

The sheer variety was staggering. You started by jumping on a train, and then along the train. Then you were jumping on some boxes, then on some tanks, and then on some lorries. When you’d jumped on enough of these, you went back to the beginning and jumped on some faster things.

I know what you’re thinking… there must have been more to it than that. Elite were a reputable company, they wouldn’t release such a sub-standard game. Well you’d be wrong. They did release it. Their sole idea of making it more fun was to include a bird that knocked you off the train. Brilliant.

The game was nothing like the TV series, well apart from the fact that the main sprite was a bit portly. There was no attractive assistant (mores the pity) and no sign of your cool jeep. If I was making a game of the Fall Guy the first things I would make sure I’d include would be a nubile bikini wearing girl and a cool jeep… those fools at Elite, they must have kicked themselves when they realized their mistake.

Lee Majors is probably now embarrassed that he ever appeared in The Fall Guy because it was cack. I would however like to meet the Elite team that wrote the game and see if they are embarrassed too because it’s also cack.

Thank goodness I copied mine off a friend, otherwise I’d be really annoyed.
