And you thought all the great game ideas were thought up in the late Seventies, well what about this one? Wizball is a fascinating concept. You guide a perpetually bouncing ball (of the ‘Wiz’ variety) around a series of short black and white horizontal levels in search colour droplets.

By killing enemies and collecting tokens you can gradually improve the manoeuvrability of your ball and add a Catalite who can pick up the colour and mix it up in a big pot. Once the right amount is gathered, that colour is restored to the land and you begin on the next, until the entire game is in colour and you can put your feet up. Original, playable and for once not invented by Eugene Jarvis.Wizball is a work of genius.
