You either hate or love Brandish. There seems to be no middle ground.

Everyone I've talked to or read their takes, you either like it or ya don't. I do feel it's misunderstood personally. It's no Legend of Zelda, but this Action RPG deserves a shake if your well has ran dry and you've never looked at it before. This game profile is made with the hope that you'll give it a shot and see for yourself.

One guy gave this game a 9 out of 10 rating, and I think his quote pretty much sums it up: "The best worst game ever."

Personally, I ate up the game plot from the get-go, the idea of controlling a bad guy 40 floors underground, 55 different monster types (from T-Rexes to Minotaurs) stalking you and big bad bosses galore, including one that Falcom clearly paid homage to TOHO's KING GHIDORAH. The game's got some good music, a nice atmosphere and I really enjoyed it. Not for everyone but if the game plot, puzzle solving, monster slaying and a more methodical style of game playing appeals to you, chances are… you just might be glad you gave Brandish the time of day.
