Less than a year after the release of the original Panzer Dragoon, Sega released the second game in the series that in every respect improves on the first game in the series. The addictive nature of trying to get 100% enemy shoot rate remains, but this time the levels have more variety with many opportunities to take a different route which adds to replayability value. Another welcome feature is the dragon evolution feature whereby the better you do in a level, the more chance your dragon will evolve into a more powerful being.
Certain highlights include the incredible bosses (always a Panzer Dragoon highlight), graphics that still stand up today (especially considering the Saturn wasn't well known for it's 3D capabilities) and epic set pieces. To this day, taking down an entire amarda with just you and your dragon is incredible. The levels have far more variety this time round – you could find yourself deep in the forest, or down the bottom of a deep, dark cave.
The music as always is sublime and the story and cut scenes are still of a high quality. I love how hte series has it's own language. Overall, Zwei stands upon the cream of the Sega Saturn crop…except Panzer Dragoon Saga of course! If you cannot afford the latter game, you should be able to find this game a lot cheaper. It is well worth it.
