This thrilling action adventure spawned one of todays best known icons in the gaming world: Lara Croft.

Her first adventure leads the tomb raiding heroine to ancient sites in Peru, Greece and Egypt. The 3D areas are presented in third person view, so you look Lara who can not only jump'n'run but also climb, swim and dive, over the shoulder.

You have two pistols with unlimited ammo at your disposal which is quite helpful because on your way through the beautifully designed tombs, you'll stumble across tigers, bears and other even bigger hungry animals.

From time to time you'll have to solve little puzzles by pulling certain levers or sliding big blocks to uncover new paths. The tombs are filled not only with enemies but also traps, so you better watch your step.

The different locations still look great today and the atmosphere is really dense and thrilling. I especially like the sounds and score. You'll experience lots of jump-seat moments when you're suddenly being attacked by a hungry animal or other enemies that might be even worse.

The game was also released for Sony's PlayStation and Sega's Saturn.
