Waku Waku 7 is one of the weirdest and most wonderful games I have ever come across. The game itself is a polished title from sunsoft that bases itself on the classic SNK four button template. What sets it apart from the crowd is the mad cast of characters and super bright colour scheme. This title, you see, is a completely crazy parody of Japanese anime.

The bizarre combatants include a giant Totoro style Japanese soft toy creature and a walking tank with a gun for a head. The moves are over the top and it all rolls along at a lively pace. It’s unlikely that Waku Waku 7 will hold players attention for as long as something like Street Fighter Alpha 3 but it is undeniable fun and anarchic.

Waku Waku 7 is pretty difficult to find. The home version will need to be imported on the Saturn and is not cheap.

I love Fighting Games. Yeah I love them all. Street Fighter 2-4? Yep love it. Samurai Shodown 1-5? Sure thing. King of Fighters 1-500? Heck yeah. Waku Waku 7? Waku Waku who? Yeah haven't heard of this until recently. A Buddy of mine widened my horizon by mentioning a Fighter he used to play. So the good helping friend that I am, I helped him track it down. The result of our search? The honestly most crazy Fighting Game to EVER hit a console. Featuring a bunch of crazy Characters (I.e Spandexgirl with Bunny ears) brawling it out. The most important part however, it is blessed with a brilliant Fighting Engine, rivaling the ones of Marvel Vs. Capcom, and some really responsive Controls. Bottom Line: Great all around Fun. Required Brawling.
